Dear Everbody,
I'm looking for a skilled candidate for a Ph.D. position (optionally
4 year master+Ph.D. or post-doc) at the University of Southern
Denmark to start late 2016 / early 2017. The position is sponsored
by an industrial partner.
The topic is damage mechanisms in polymer materials, which
we will study using Kremer-Grest type polymer models using
bonds to model cross-links that can break under strain and
simulate such model materials using LAMMPS. The CPU budget
for the project is 1000 core years.
The ideal candidate will have experience with e.g. simulating
stress-strain relations and/or polymer materials, coarse-grained
polymer models and/or the Kremer-Grest model or optionally
extending LAMMPS with new functionality. I have a broad mind
and appreciate that other competencies within simulation/modeling
and/or soft-materials could also be of relevance.
Contact me on the email below if you are interested or have further
questions. Feel free to forward this message to third parties.
(NB I on vacation from 15/8-4/9 so response might be slower then.)
Legal details: Appointment as a PhD Research Fellow is for three years.
Employment stops automatically at the end of the period. The holder of
the scholarship is not allowed to have other paid employment during the
three-year period. The successful applicant will be employed in accordance
with the agreement of 10 November 2015 on salaried PhD scholars
between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of
Professional Associations). The successful candidate will be enrolled at
this university in accordance with faculty regulations and the Danish
Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD order).
For a full application, I will need a letter of interest (~2 page) stating
your motivation, competences and previous experiences in light of the
proposed project. A detailed CV. Copy of diplomas, Bachelor and Master
degree, or equivalent including transcript of notes/grades. As well as
one or two signed recommendation letters.
If there are candidates with exceptional qualifications, the project
could be carried out as a 4 year Master+Ph.D. or as a post-doc, but
the preferred mode is a as a Ph.D. student.
In general, I expect a candidate to work independently and be self-motivated.
Applicants are expected to be reliable and will be responsible for the success
of the project. The every day working language at the university is English,
hence a good command of English is a must.
